If I Knew You Were Comin’ I’d ‘ve Baked a Cake!
My sixth birthday party, complete with an angel food birthday cake!
I wear the star party “hat of honor”, in the front left of the photo.
March 1964
If I knew you were coming‘ Id’ve baked a cake, baked a cake, baked a cake…
The words to this 1950 Eileen Barton tune, always come to mind when my birthday rolls around. (This line is even spoken by Francis the talking mule, toward the end of his first feature film, Francis.) It not only makes me think of that oh so delicious birthday cake, but brings back memories of my 4 year-old daughter happily dancing to this tune with her preschool dance class.
Hear If I Knew You Were Comin’ I’d ‘ve Baked a Cake, here.
Pretty in pink, Martese, in her dance recital costume.

My Happy Trifecta of Birthday Cakes
I love celebrating my birthday with family and friends! It is a happy time to enjoy each other’s company, and share birthday cake! Yum! This year I was treated to not just one, not just two, but three birthday cakes! :o) :o) :o)
The week prior to my birthday, I enjoyed a visit to Florida to see my eldest son, his wife, and their family. On my final day of the visit, they presented me with a birthday
Key Lime Pie. YUM! :o)
Five days later, on my actual birthday, I shared an ice cream cake with my son and his girlfriend. YUM! :o)
The following day, I was treated to my traditional birthday cake, Raspberry Continental,
prepared by my other son, and his family, for my birthday celebration. YUM! :o)
It was a fun and delicious birthday! According to my friend, Barb, my birthday is not over just yet. She subscribes to the belief that all birthdays should be celebrated for a month, not just a single day. Sounds like great advice to me! :o)
This delicious (Publix) Florida Key Lime Pie,
was enjoyed on the last day of my visit to see my eldest son, his wife, and family
in Florida.
February 24 (five days before my birthday)
I enjoyed an Ice Cream Cake with my youngest son and girlfriend
on my March 2nd birthday.
My traditional birthday cake, Raspberry Continental, a surprise created by my
second born son and his family, for my family birthday celebration on March 3.

Love that you embrace your birthday! Never have I had key lime pie, or an ice cream cake or even a raspberry cake. Now the angel food cake is my favorite. But it must be bald. I do not care for frosting on my angel food. No fruit no ice cream. Wishing you the Happiest of birthdays all month long!🎂🍧

Renee,
They were all delicious! :o) When I was young, a homemade angel food cake was my birthday cake of choice,
and I’m still a fan.
Thank you for reading, and let me know if you ever try a key lime pie, ice cream cake, or the Raspberry Continental recipe. :o)
